You know how people have been saying that Hip-Hop is dead? Nas even did a song about Hip-Hop’s downfall, which is ironic, right? For me, hip hop was never dead and it never will be, all it needed was some mouth to mouth. Nas has always been that person to bring back and revive what we all thought we had lost.
This 15/21 track album has Nas’s heart and soul on it. To talking about murderers in Accident Murderers feat Rick Ross, To a gentle caring, fatherly track in Daughters. This album has me wondering, what the hell have i wasted my ears on this year. Featuring artist like Mary J Blige, Anthony Hamilton, and even the late and great Amy Winehouse, Nas knew he had to one up his rap game to show why hip hop was never dead. My personal favorite track is Daughters. When i heard it, i felt Nas’s pain of having a daughter and the fear of having one in this day of age. Made me wonder if i have a daughter, what would happen to her.
I hope with this album, Nas has made a message to other old rappers and asked for help to bring back true hip hop. This is hopefully the album to end others rappers careers and set a new trail for new comers.
